How Much to Charge for a 360 Photo Booth at Proms and School Dances
Updated November 2026 · 4 min read
Quote a prom 360 booth at $945 for 3 hours or $1,140 for 4 hours, and offer a 360 plus magic mirror combo at $1,895.50 as the top option. Those are example benchmarks for a mid-size US metro; schools rarely push on the base price, but they will ask whether you can invoice the booster club, send a W-9 and keep 300 students moving.
So price prom on throughput and paperwork. Your numbers have to show the committee that every student gets a turn, and your contract has to handle minors on a spinning platform.
How many students can one 360 handle at prom?
Students arrive in a wave, take formal photos, then hit the booth in friend groups that fill the platform to its rated limit. A practiced attendant runs 25 to 35 spins an hour.
- 3 hours at 30 spins = 90 spins, about 270 student slots at 3 per spin
- 4 hours at 30 spins = 120 spins, about 360 student slots
For a 350-student prom, 4 hours is the honest quote. Three hours means the line wraps the gym at 10:30 pm, and the advisor remembers that when next year's vendor list is made.
Good, better, best for a school budget
Good: Spin Essentials, $595, 2 hours. Template overlay, attendant, online gallery. Short for most proms, but it fits a small dance.
Better: Spin Party, $945, 3 hours. Theme overlay with the class year, props and a standard backdrop. This is the budget prom package.
Best: the 360 + mirror combo, $1,895.50. Students get the video and a print to hold. The math is in magic mirror prom pricing.
Instead of discounting for schools, keep the price and include the custom overlay with the school logo free (a $75 value) on Spin Essentials. Spin Party already includes it.
Worked example: a 4-hour prom paid by school check
- Spin Party, 3 hours: $945
- Fourth hour: $195
- Travel: the venue is 34 miles out, 4 past the radius: 4 x 2 x $1.25 = $10
- Total: $1,150. Retainer $345.00; balance $805.00 due 7 days before prom.
The school pays by check, so there is no card fee. Your cost is $145 base plus $50 for two extra attendant hours, $195 in all. The 68-mile round trip at $0.70 a mile is $47.60. Contribution: about $907.40 for a Saturday in April.
The standard rule is that a date is held only once the signed agreement and retainer arrive. If a district pays by purchase order, decide whether a signed PO holds the date, and write that down before you turn other schools away.
Minors on a spinning platform: settle the waiver first
Most prom riders are under 18. The standard 360 waiver asks for a parent or guardian to be present and accept for each minor, and parents are not at prom.
Work it out before prom season:
- Ask the school whether guardian acceptance can be collected with its prom permission form or ticket sale, using your waiver text.
- Bring the accepted list to the event so the attendant checks a roster, not each student's phone.
- Students 18 and older accept on the tablet as usual.
This is the one prom detail worth a call to your attorney and your insurer before you rely on it.
Contract and paperwork points for schools
- Paperwork: W-9 and COI free, naming the school or district if required.
- Billing: invoice the school or the booster club, and accept a PO.
- Music and content: clean tracks only on 360 videos, and you can refuse or delete inappropriate images.
- Gallery: a private link the school controls. Do not feature students in your marketing without guardian permission; defaulting prom bookings to the marketing opt-out is the simple fix.
- Supervision: chaperones manage students; your attendant can pause the booth.
- Staff claims: say background-checked only if you actually run checks.
Questions operators ask
When do prom committees book?
Proms run March to May and committees often reserve in the fall. Start school outreach in September and offer a 14-day date hold with no deposit so the committee has time to get approval.
What if the school cannot pay the balance 7 days before prom?
Agree on payment timing in writing at booking. If the district pays on a PO after the event, decide whether you accept that risk, and if you do, get the PO number and the billing contact before prom night.
Do I need a second attendant at a big prom?
For 300 or more students, yes. One person runs the platform and the safety checks while the second manages the line, the roster and the sharing questions, and the two of them can cover each other's breaks. Add that labor to the calculator before you quote, at $25 an hour plus setup.
Is homecoming worth booking for the same school?
Yes, and it is the easiest prom sale you will make. Homecoming in September or October puts your videos in front of the same committee, and a prom booking credit for homecoming clients gives them a reason to reserve early without cutting your price.
