How Much to Charge for a Magic Mirror Photo Booth at Brand Activations
Updated November 2026 · 4 min read
Price a magic mirror brand activation by the day from your hourly rates: a 4-hour launch event with unlimited branded prints and a microsite is $1,370, and adding a 6-hour in-store day brings a two-day activation to $2,995. Those are example benchmarks for a mid-size US metro, and the mirror is the activation booth for brands that want a premium, printed takeaway.
Beauty, fashion, spirits and retail brands pick the mirror for its look. They also bring brand guidelines, image-rights questions and public spaces full of passersby, all of which belong in your quote and your contract.
What brands are paying for
- A full-length, flattering photo that fits a beauty or fashion story.
- A branded print that carries the logo, the product and a URL or QR code into the guest's bag.
- A branded microsite with usage numbers for the client's recap deck.
- An optional opt-in at the sharing screen, delivered to the client.
The print is the piece other booths cannot match. Price it in from the start with unlimited prints rather than selling one print per session.
Worked example: launch night plus an in-store day
Day 1, launch party, 4 hours: Mirror Celebration (unlimited prints, custom overlay, props, standard backdrop) $1,245, plus the branded microsite at $125. Day total: $1,370.
Day 2, in-store, 6 hours: the $795 base plus 3 extra hours at $175, which is $1,320, plus unlimited prints at $150. Day total: $1,470. Same overlay and backdrop, so no second design charge.
One-time: a custom-printed premium backdrop in place of the standard, $155 more ($250 minus $95).
Total: $1,370 + $1,470 + $155 = $2,995. Retainer $898.50; balance $2,096.50 before day one.
Costs: day 1 is $225 plus $25 = $250, and day 2 is $225 plus $75 = $300, since you pack up and reset between venues. Total $550, plus extra print media. Card fees: $86.86 + $0.60 = $87.46. Contribution: about $2,357.54.
Brand guidelines and approvals
Brands have logo rules, exact color values and legal lines that must appear. Ask for the brand guide along with the logo files 14 days before day one.
Standard design terms give one proof and up to two rounds of changes. Agency work often needs a legal or brand review in between; if the client needs more rounds, quote the extra design time instead of absorbing it. Print a physical proof on your mirror's printer, because colors on a 4x6 print never match the brand's screen exactly.
Image rights and consent in a public store
At a private party, guests know a booth is there. In a store, passersby walk into the frame. Handle it with:
- Signage at the booth saying images may be shared with the host and used for marketing.
- The delivery consent message on screen before anyone enters a number or email.
- A separate, unchecked box for the brand's marketing list.
- A plain answer to "can you delete my photo?": yes, on request.
If the brand plans to run booth images in paid ads, the standard license, which covers internal business use, does not reach that far. Grant it in writing, and have a local attorney review the image and data wording for your state.
Multi-day logistics and terms
- Between days: agree where the mirror sits overnight, and if it stays on site, have the client accept responsibility in writing.
- Store hours: you need 60 minutes before the doors open, which can mean an early-morning load-in through a back entrance.
- Insurance: a certificate naming the brand, the agency and the property.
- Payment: agencies may ask for net terms. Keep the 30% retainer at booking either way.
Questions operators ask
Can the brand use the booth photos in paid ads?
Only if your contract grants that use. The standard license covers personal and internal business use, and guests consented to the host and your marketing rather than an ad campaign, so write the scope into the agreement and have your attorney check the consent wording.
Should prints carry a QR code or URL?
Yes, if the brand has somewhere useful to send people. Put it in the overlay's safe area, sized so it still scans on a 4x6 print, and test it on a printed proof before day one.
Do I charge extra for a second location?
Price each day on its own and add travel beyond your radius for each location. If you pack up and reset, the second day carries a full setup and teardown, which the day rate already covers.
What should the recap include?
Session, print and share counts from your booth app, the opt-in count, and the microsite link, sent the morning after the last day. Add two or three of the best prints photographed in good light, since the brand will want them for its own recap.
